“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend the Shallowford House retreat. I really appreciate this experience. For once I felt normal being in a community where I was welcomed and lived peacefully without being judged, stigmatised, discriminated against or being cautious of who I am and what I have because we all shared a common thing. The retreat was breathtaking as it represented people of different cultures, sex, age, religion, beliefs and social status all coming together as one family which shows that despite being different and unique in our own ways, we are all human and can live in harmony if we acknowledge and accept others the way they are and vice versa. The sessions were well organised. The laughter, the tears shed, the jokes, gifts, stories and life time experience we shared not forgetting wining and dining together is really life saving as it has brought healing to my soul and opened my eyes to see that there is still hope at the end of the tunnel. My final thought is to encourage HiVitality to keep on doing the wonderful work of organising the retreats because the reward is phenomenal. Keep on reaching out to as many people living with HIV as you can, some of whom might be dying slowly and unknowingly not because of illnesses and diseases but due to loneliness, isolation and segregation which is a silent killer. “No man is an island” John Donne. Together we can make living proof retreats possible, it begins with Positive living!”
“Overall respect, l liked how everyone was welcomed, especially new people and newly diagnosed people. I would like to applause Julie for her hard work during the weekend, she continued to show how devoted she is and managed to accommodate everyone and made it a special weekend. Thanks to organisers
“I was nervous about travelling on my own. However the instructions were clear and regular. On arriving I had a warm welcome. The schedule for activities was balanced and enjoyable for the social aspects. The group discussions were helpful.”
“The weekends have changed my understanding of HIV and how others have dealt with their HIV+ diagnosis. I thank you from my heart, to all the facilitators and everybody, who arranges the weekends.”
